The Seasonal Tablescape Edit from Our Art Director

With her impossibly chic and much-pinned wedding tablescape and a new home on the horizon, our art director Gabby (known for her discerning eye) shares what she’s currently loving in the world of tableware, textiles, styling and decor.

Lately, and especially while visualizing my wedding, I’ve found myself drawn to a more refined and restrained approach to tablescapes — embracing the quiet power of “less is more.” I’m gravitating toward delicate, translucent materials and sheer textures that evoke a sense of lightness and elegance: artisanal glassware, transparent linens, and ethereal finishes, all subtly offset by sleek, polished elements. Think metallic tables and sculptural stools, much like the considered setting at Le Labo’s intimate dinner at Villa Borromeo.

When it comes to a colour palette, I tend to lean toward the neutral and muted. I love using this as a base to draw attention to sculptural yet understated accents — pieces that serve as quiet statement moments. In terms of form, I’m especially drawn to defined seating and furniture that anchor a space without requiring excessive styling — like the frozen textile armchair by Migdal Studio or the organic, raw beauty of Etienne Marc’s work.

And then, there are fabrics. Crochet has been catching my eye lately, particularly in a refined, elevated context — inspired by the Magda Butrym pop-up and artists like Amy Brocante. I’m especially taken by styling ideas that use textiles as punctuation rather than layering them en masse. I love the visual tension of fabric introduced sparingly and unexpectedly — like the Menu Extra x Les Ateliers Jean Brillant collaboration, where a single elongated tablecloth rises off the edge of a table, arcs into the air, and pools onto the floor in sculptural undulations. Quiet drama.

When I was planning my wedding, I naturally thought about florals. I’ve always been drawn to single-stem arrangements and refined floral accents – used sparingly to line a table and add depth – paired with artisanal glassware (Caia Leifsdotter is a favourite) and considered metallic details that feel intentional rather than overworked. For me, it’s about celebrating the craftsmanship and purity of simplicity through tactile, curated pieces that surprise with their quiet elegance.

Having recently moved house, I’m now in a dreamlike, wishlist-fuelled phase of imagining and styling our space. Below, I’ve pulled together a tablescape edit of what’s currently inspiring me — including those “a girl can dream” pieces I’m swooning over, like Claude Lalanne’s poetic creations or the Melange Chair by Lukas Gschwandtner.
