This Beauty Writer’s Wedding-Ready Roadmap to Glowing, Natural Skin
As her wedding day in London nears, beauty expert Emma Hoareau reveals her calm, glow-first approach to skin that radiates — no filters, no fillers required.
Light streams softly through gauzy curtains in a sun-warmed room on a quiet Greek morning. Draped in pleated ivory fabric, Emma Garance Hoareau is still, thoughtful – radiant not just in skin but in presence. There’s a serenity in this space, a sense of ceremony in the quiet act of care.
In capturing the beauty of life, Paris-born, London-based beauty writer and creator Emma Hoareau also honors a kind of beauty within herself. One that’s natural, intuitive, and free of excess. As wedding season nears (for both brides and guests), her approach feels especially resonant. Skin that glows from within, rituals that soothe, and a mindset that’s more about feeling good than covering up.

The Glow That Comes With Letting Go
With over a decade in the beauty space (beginning as a beauty editor back in 2012) Emma’s journey has always been rooted in curiosity. “I thought I wanted to go into fashion,” she shares, “but I was offered a job in beauty and thought: why not? Within two weeks I was obsessed.” Skincare, she explains, became a world of its own: rich with science, ever-evolving, and deeply personal.
“I love learning about skincare because we’re kind of all our own little scientists,” she says. “It’s one of those rare things that feels universal; everyone has their own take, their own rituals. And there’s a playfulness in that. It’s not just about appearance, it’s a form of self-care that really supports my mental health too.”
The multi-faceted creative (who’s also known for her interior design projects and a creative mentorship program) has carved out a niche in the beauty space that feels refreshingly grounded. Hers is a world of skin that breathes, glows, and lives; untouched by filters, untouched by fillers. And honestly, looking at her skin, she doesn’t need it.
Here, she shares how to achieve that same pared-back radiance — not with ten-step routines or heavy-handed techniques, but with quiet rituals, consistency, and a return to what’s real.
No filters, no fillers — and certainly no frenzy. Emma Hoareau’s approach to wedding skin is rooted in clarity and calm. Below, she shares the rituals, treatments and guiding principles that have transformed her skin — and how brides (and guests) can glow from the inside out.

“It’s one of those rare things that feels universal; everyone has their own take, their own rituals. And there’s a playfulness in that. It’s not just about appearance, it’s a form of self-care that really supports my mental health too.”

1. Focus Your Formula
One active per concern, and consistency above all
“I learned the hard way that more isn’t better – just more irritating.” In the early years, Emma tried it all: multiple acids, trending actives, daily switches. The result? Barrier damage. “Now I know what my skin responds to, and I don’t overload it.”
Her approach is about choosing one ingredient per concern and sticking with it:
– Niacinamide in the morning to balance oil, strengthen the barrier, and target pigmentation
– PHA or lactic acid in the evening for gentle exfoliation and smoothing
– Salicylic acid or retinol only when needed — never all at once
“Hydration is the anchor. That never changes.”
2. Strengthen First, Glow Second
Build resilience through treatment and touch
Emma’s focus in the lead-up to her own wedding is simple: collagen, calm, and structure. “Skin that’s healthy glows on its own. I’m investing in things that make it stronger.”
Six months out, she began radiofrequency needling to stimulate collagen and promote elasticity. At home, she relies on LED therapy, retinal, hyaluronic acid, and rosehip oil to nourish and reinforce.
“These are the quiet overachievers. The results build over time.”
She also swears by microneedling for acne scarring and Hydrafacials to manage congestion:
“Skincare maintains the result – but those targeted treatments make the leap.”

3. Respond, Don’t React
Let your skin lead — not your product shelf
Emma treats her skin as a conversation, not a checklist. “Some mornings I feel like mist and moisturiser is enough. Other days, I take more time. Skin isn’t the same every day; your products shouldn’t be either.” She’s learned to check in before she applies – not just reach for what’s on-trend. “When in doubt, simplify. Skin loves being heard more than being overloaded.” She also speaks candidly about habits she’s had to let go: “I used to pick at hormonal breakouts constantly – it only left hyperpigmentation. What helped me heal that was patience, antioxidants, and consistent care.”
4. Let It Be a Ritual
Your bathroom is your reset button. Wedding planning can feel all-consuming — but skincare, for Emma, is the pause. “It bookends my day. I’m alone, it’s quiet, and I can come back to myself.”
Facial massage plays a grounding role here. Whether in-salon or done at home with a roller, it enhances both results and rhythm:
– Stimulates circulation
– Promotes oxygenation
– Boosts product absorption
– Calms puffiness
“I often do it while watching TV – that’s how I stay consistent.”

5. Prepare in Phases
A wedding skin timeline that works with (not against) your skin “You can’t rush good skin. The key is starting early, being gentle, and planning backwards.”
Emma’s personal roadmap to wedding-ready skin:
6 months out
– Radiofrequency needling to lift and build collagen
– Daily LED therapy for tone and glow
– Key ingredients: niacinamide, retinal, hyaluronic acid, rosehip oil
10 weeks out
– Hydrafacial or a gentle at-home peel
– Daily facial massage to support circulation and glow
7 days out
– Hydration and barrier care only
– In-salon sculpting massage to relieve puffiness
3 hours before makeup
“No actives, no experiments. Just a hydrating mask, eye patches, mist and serum — and give it time to sink in so makeup stays in place.”
Emma’s Tried-and-True Treatments
A shortlist of what actually works, and why.
LED Mask
“If there’s one at-home device to invest in, this is it. Ten minutes a day stimulates collagen and gives that ‘lit from within’ glow.”
Radiofrequency
“Perfect if you’re noticing wrinkles or want a lifted look. It gently heats the skin to encourage your own collagen and elastin.”
Facial Massage
“In-salon or at home, it boosts blood flow and helps your skincare absorb. I love using a roller.”
Peels
“A good peel removes the dead skin cells that cause dullness and dryness. Nothing beats that post-peel glow.”
